Market Update

According to the Olshan Luxury Market Report (olshan.com/market-report), twenty-five contracts were signed last week in Manhattan at $4 million and above—sixteen fewer than the previous week. Condominiums continued to lead the market, outperforming co-ops by a margin of 17 to 4, alongside one condop and three townhouses.

For context, last year’s weekly average also stood at twenty-five contracts. Moreover, despite the recent slowdown, the luxury market has already exceeded last year’s total volume of 1,295 contracts. With 1,326 contracts signed year-to-date, 2025 is currently positioned to become the second-strongest year for luxury sales since reporting began in 2006.

This SoHo loft exemplifies how Compass connects clients with extraordinary homes, blending timeless elegance with modern conveniences in one of the city’s most vibrant districts.

Thanksgiving in True NYC Style

In Manhattan, Thanksgiving has never been just about the turkey. It’s a celebration shaped by the city, and the parade that runs through it, where iconic restaurants reimagine tradition with a cosmopolitan twist, and local gourmet shops transform hosting at home into an art form (or competitive sport, depending on your preference). Whether you're gathering around a restaurant table or curating a feast in your own dining room, the holiday takes on a distinctly New York edge: elevated, ebullient, and... well, maybe not so effortless.

Across the city, chefs reinterpret classic dishes with the kind of creativity only Manhattan can inspire. Places like Lex Yard, Gage & Tollner, and Tamarind Tribeca light up with New York holiday magic and serve some of the most delicious foul-fare you can imagine. Think truffle-laced stuffing, heritage birds slow-roasted to perfection, and seasonal sides that are secretly the stars of the show. Dining rooms glow with candlelight, the hum of conversation mixes with the clink of glassware, and the city outside is transformed by the warmth of shared ritual. For those who prefer to skip the kitchen chaos, these culinary sanctuaries offer Thanksgiving without the stress, but with all the heart.

Yet Thanksgiving in Manhattan doesn’t have to happen in a restaurant. The city’s gourmet markets—those beloved institutions tucked along neighborhood streets—make hosting at home feel just as indulgent. From handcrafted pies to small-batch cranberry relishes and expertly seasoned prepared turkeys, these shops give home cooks the freedom to focus on the gathering itself. But make sure you plan ahead; New York's finest finds are snapped up quick and you don't want to be the last one looking for a turkey. The Little Pie Company alone has a waitlist miles long for anyone foolish enough to wait until the last minute to order. It’s holiday prep with a Manhattan sensibility: curated and just a touch over zealous.

Whether you’re dressing up for a multi-course feast or assembling a tablescape in your own apartment, Thanksgiving here is, of course, not about crafting the perfect day, but rather how to share that day with your families— chosen or otherwise. It’s a moment to slow down, savor the season, and experience the holiday through the lens of a city that knows how to make everything—yes, even Turkey Day—feel a little more glamorous.

The Best Hotel Bars to Escape to This Winter

As the temperatures drop and the city eases into its winter glow, there’s nothing like slipping into a luxurious hotel bar—where the lighting softens and cocktails are spiced and steaming. Whether you're meeting friends, entertaining guests, or looking for the perfect cold-weather nightcap, these hotel bars offer comfort, style, and a touch of winter magic.

1. Nubeluz at The Ritz-Carlton NoMad

Perched high above the city, Nubeluz brings a jewel-box glow to winter nights. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame snow-dusted skyline views, while velvet seating and luminous cocktails create a sleek, modern escape from the cold. It’s glamorous without trying too hard—ideal for festive evenings or a celebratory martini with a view.

2. The Lobby Bar at the Greenwich Hotel

A Tribeca sanctuary perfect for a snowy evening. With its fireplace, handwoven textiles, and intimate seating, it feels more like a stylish home than a hotel bar. A warm, classic cocktail here is the quickest route to a cozy winter reset.

3. Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle

An Upper East Side icon that practically glows in winter. The golden murals, signature martinis, and live piano create a nostalgic atmosphere that feels cinematic—especially on cold nights when the bar hums with classic New York energy.

4. The Bar at The Beekman

Tucked beneath the hotel’s dramatic atrium, The Beekman’s bar exudes rich, Old-World charm. The wood detailing, low light, and whiskey-centric cocktail list make it a perfect winter hideaway.

5. Bar Pendry at Pendry Manhattan West

Chic, warm, and quietly luxurious, Bar Pendry offers the perfect balance of modern design and winter coziness. Dark woods, textured interiors, and thoughtful cocktails make it an elevated stop for cold-weather evenings.

Whether you're craving a skyline-view martini, a fireside classic, or a moody downtown escape, New York’s hotel bar scene delivers winter perfection. Settle in, warm up, and let the season take over.
